SBA Announces $30 Million in Grants for Women’s Business Centers

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is providing $30 million in grant funding for Women’s Business Centers (WBCs), including a new center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Eligible organizations can receive up to $150,000 to open and operate a WBC. Currently, there are 152 in-person WBCs across all 50 states and Puerto Rico. For the first time, organizations offering virtual counseling and training services to women-owned small businesses are also eligible for the grants.

Grants will be awarded in four areas:

  1. Support for women business owners in government contracting.
  2. Entrepreneurial development services for women-owned small businesses providing child care services.
  3. General entrepreneurial development services for women in underserved areas.
  4. Support for opening a new center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“Every new WBC helps open doors for women entrepreneurs who need access to training and practical assistance to stand up and grow their small businesses,” said Christina Hale, Assistant Administrator for the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership.

For questions about these grants, contact the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership at owbo@sba.gov. This office was established by executive order in 1979.
