UNDP Indonesia Highlights Opportunities for Women in Digital Business

The “Digital Entrepreneurship: Exploring Business Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs” webinar, held on August 6, 2024, highlighted the role of digital platforms in empowering women to achieve financial independence. Organized by UNDP Indonesia and the Indonesian Institute of Journalism, in collaboration with six online women’s media platforms, the event brought together women from diverse communities seeking insights into leveraging technology and social media for business growth.

Key speakers included Siti Latifa, Editor-in-Chief of Kutub.co; Ima Eka Sari from UNDP Indonesia; Defira NC from ICT Watch; and content creator Silvi Sisilya. Discussions revolved around harnessing digital platforms, overcoming challenges, and leveraging Indonesia’s youth demographic to achieve the nation’s 2045 development goals.

Ima Eka Sari emphasized the transformative potential of digital platforms for women, enabling global market access and bridging historical barriers. She shared insights on UNDP initiatives aimed at equipping women with digital and entrepreneurial skills. Defira NC focused on effective social media strategies, tackling algorithms, content creation, and audience engagement, while highlighting the need for mental resilience and resource management in navigating social platforms. Silvi Sisilya offered practical tips for housewives to earn income through consistent content creation and engagement on social media.

The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session addressing topics like content creation, e-commerce sales strategies, and tips for maximizing social media reach. Speakers encouraged women to embrace digital entrepreneurship as a means to overcome challenges, create opportunities, and contribute to economic growth. As Ima Eka Sari stated, “Women can harness existing privileges to empower themselves and uplift marginalized communities, driving meaningful change through technology.”
