At Stanford, Stanford Women in Technology Entrepreneurship (SWITE) has become a thriving community for aspiring female tech entrepreneurs, founded in 2022 by Nina Boord ’25 and Symphony Koss ’24 M.S. ’25. Motivated by the lack of representation for women in tech entrepreneurship, the club started with 50 members and has now grown to over 160 active participants, offering a welcoming, non-competitive environment.
SWITE empowers members through speaker events with female tech leaders, networking mixers, and workshops like VC Alphabet Soup, which demystifies venture capital terminology. The club’s mission, led by co-presidents Lily Loughridge ’25 and Evelyn Hur ’25 M.S. ’26, aims to inspire members, build community, and connect them with industry luminaries to break down barriers for women in tech entrepreneurship.
The club’s initiatives, including building workshops and plans for an ideathon, offer a space for members to develop their startup ideas, connect with VCs, and gain real-world insights. “We want to create a collaborative space that bridges systemic gaps and empowers women in the startup ecosystem,” said Hur.
SWITE’s diverse and growing community demonstrates the entrepreneurial spirit of women in tech, tackling misconceptions and driving change in the industry.
