UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Women collaborated to organize workshops and training sessions across Viet Nam, advancing women’s entrepreneurship and promoting green business practices. The initiative began with a June 2024 workshop in Ho Chi Minh City titled “Cooperation to Promote Energy Efficiency and Transition Solutions Towards Green and Sustainability in Business.” Attended by 120 stakeholders from various sectors, the event highlighted women’s pivotal role in the green transition and explored policy frameworks and support mechanisms for sustainable business practices.
Specialized training sessions followed in Da Nang and Hai Phong, targeting 65 women entrepreneurs. These sessions provided insights into ESG assessment, green economy trends, and tools to integrate gender equality into sustainable business strategies. Reflecting on her experience, Duong Quynh Ngoc of ATES GLOBAL emphasized the importance of understanding gender roles in corporate governance and appreciated the opportunity to network with experienced women entrepreneurs.
To advance green practices, the initiative underscored the need for increased awareness, comprehensive ESG training, and accessible green financing solutions. Expanding support mechanisms and preferential financial programs will be critical in driving Viet Nam’s green transition while fostering gender equality and sustainable development.
